The best helmet is the one that fits properly and that you are happy to wear every ride. Weight, venting and aerodynamics come second.

Fit means level on the head, snug without pressure points, and a strap junction sitting just below the ear. Head shapes differ, and a helmet that suits one person can be uncomfortable on someone else with the same measurement.

Rotational impact systems such as MIPS and similar technologies are now common and worth having. So is replacing a helmet after any real impact, even if it looks fine from the outside.
