Cervélo have engineered Áspero for pure, unapologetic speed, ready to take down finish lines, KOMs, PRs, and FKTs. A bike built without limits, for the riders looking to test them. It’s stiff - classics-racing stiff - and performs like you’d want a road bike to perform off-road. And this makes total sense, and it’s what Cevélo were trying to do when they were stuffing bigger tires into their existing frames and swapping in aftermarket forks to get a 40mm tire up front. A new breed of rider is emerging - one who loves the freedom and exploration that gravel culture was founded upon but who has a hunger to ride hard, to go all out, and to explore not just geography but personal limits. The Aspéro is a bike built without limits, for the riders looking to test them.
Trail - front-wheel response to rider input - is the most critical factor in high-velocity handling. Flipping the two-position "Trail Mixer" to compensate for the difference in circumference between a 650b and 700c tire maintains consistent handling by maintaining consistent trail figures.
We designed Aspero to fit most 700c x 42mm or 650b x 49mm wheel/tire combinations. Of course, there are variables—rim width, tire casing, and tread depth—which will affect final clearance. We (and the International Organization for Standardization, or ISO), always recommend 4mm of clearance between the tire and frame.
Stiffness and handling work together to ensure the bike tracks predictably and responds immediately to critical pedal and bracing inputs.
There are many contributing factors when it comes to picking the right size of bike. Whilst height provides perhaps the best indication of bike size it's not uncommon to size up, or size down depending rider flexibility, body shape, riding style and desired body position. Every bike we sell is fully assembled and tested for safety by our trained mechanics. We then partly disassemble the bike and carefully re-pack to prepare for shipping.
Depending on the model, upon receipt you may be required to straighten and tighten the handlebars, reattach front wheel and attach the pedals. Please ensure that the pedals are greased and fitted correctly - the pedals will be marked L and R and have to be fitted to the left and right cranks respectively. Pedal do not come with every bike and need to be bough separately, especially on more high-end models. Please check when you are ordering.
There is a guide in the box telling you which tools you will need and the steps to follow. This will require some degree of mechanical skill to put together and can need some minor adjustments. The less confident you are in this field the more we'd recommend having it checked over by a professional mechanic.
